First 30 days of learning with Monta :)

Can't believe that it has only been 30 days since we first met to start our learning, unlearning, experimenting and questioning everything journey!

What have we done so far?

WEEK 1

We started off with fun and easy things to settle down in the learning centre. Ali made some 3d cards! It just took a bit of patience and at least 3 tries to make it work! But she did it!

We tried a park&learn lesson! Words are hidden around the park and hints are shown on a map. We learned how read a map and how to make sentences from the words! They enjoyed it so much that they made sentences for each other and hid the words around the park! Outdoors & language arts :)

Reading, we love books, we love reading! We read new stories every day & Mondays are our library days!

First weeks....yes, it was often a NOOOOOOOOO!spelling, oh dear spelling... so many ways to learn it...and in 30 days we found the favourite one... www.spellingcity.com

trying to spell/stamp mineral names before visiting Britannia mine!

gold?! Yes, please!

... a bit of history of mining! It's great to explore the local sites and see how the sea-to-sky has changed in the last 50 years! Did you know how loud was the first drill in this mine? No? Ask Ali, Benn and Kayden!

One of our beautiful walks! Enjoying the spring and looking for dragon caves! A great way to start a day!
math problems... If the blocks don't work, we take stones, we draw, we count pencils,  we do everything....until we can see that DONE star :)

WEEK 2

What about some birds of prey? In 'Beaty' you can touch them, learn about their wings, claws, listen to their songs and discover what they eat!

oh, and what is this? A Whale? Really? Yes! We now know how big is its stomach!

 Do no disturb...some serious experiments!

 hmmm, bones...bones...

seriously, we can't even get gummy worms without doing some math? Nop.

Spring shopping!

WEEK 3

And spring roll making!!! Yes, we know how!

Benn: Art is amazing! Creating some space for ourselves in the Art Gallery. Everyone was secretly watching us creating this incredible straw house, no, we didn't use 'the usual' patterns, we just did what we felt like! No limits!

Ali chose to create some roads and maps. Benn and Kayden special boats!

WEEK 5

Yes, school is getting serious... to do lists! (they do come with small 'treat bags' that have cards (10min free time/10min game time etc.) & sometimes a sweet or a special toy or a sticker. So far I have only seen empty boards at the end of the day!

We had a chance to visit the Whistler sliding centre and learn about different winter sports + ask some really interesting questions!
Kayden: How do you stop? On your butt?
Ali: Do you have to wear a helmet or special clothes?
Benn: How fast does it go?

Benn on a vintage luge!

Benn on a skeleton!

Ali and Cancun enjoying luge doubles!

Yes, this is perfect for all of us!

This is our new student....not really. A reminder of a great day out in Vancouver - Shakespearean Rhapsody! Do you think Shakespeare was a good father? Did he live in a big house? Call Ali & Benn... Kayden will know about the best part of the play...DANCE!

What about a fun day out? Yessssss!!!! We found some fossils and real size dinosaur bones!

WEEK 6

Kristina, a guide from Whistler, introduced us to 4 different type of cones that can be found in the local woods. She also told us some interesting stories that made it easier to remember those trees!

Who is that little boy up there?

I think we are lost. Again? Yes, but it's ok, we are at the lost lake!

some action before looking for the skipping stones...

Let's take a nice picture for mom and dad...

Yes, Monta is teaching Ali to take selfies... it's a skill nowadays! :)

We found a beautiful place that belongs to all of us. We sat in a silence for a minute. What a beautiful afternoon!

...2...?
